Located in the scenic Vrata Valley near the town of Mojstrana, it captivates visitors with its dramatic beauty and unique features. The waterfall is actually composed of two separate falls: the Lower Peričnik, which drops an impressive 52 meters, and the Upper Peričnik, which adds another 16 meters further upstream.
What makes Peričnik especially remarkable is the rare opportunity to walk behind the waterfall, thanks to a natural rocky ledge that curves behind the water curtain. This allows for a truly immersive experience, as you can admire the waterfall from all angles while feeling the refreshing mist on your skin.
The waterfall is most powerful in spring and early summer when snowmelt swells the stream, but it’s a popular destination year-round. In winter, it transforms into a magical scene as the water freezes into shimmering icicles. Easily accessible by a short hike from the nearby parking area, Peričnik is a favorite stop for nature lovers, hikers, and photographers exploring the wonders of the Slovenian Alps.
